I'd also just like one day free from worry and despair. You people are all so mean sometimes. And for no reason. I'm glad your lives are perfect and you're able to handle it all with grace! Good for you.
OP, I'm going to try to be gentle here. You need to do something about your anxiety, and part of that is not to lash out at people who are helping you. The stay calm and carry one motto is one way to get through it. There is probably a lot of grief too that is playing into this. First, a certified letter from the IRS means you do need to find out from them what is going on, even if you don't get the letter. Second, the IRS is generally helpful once you have a live person. Call on a Wednesday or Thursday morning when it's likely to be less of a wait. I get that many people are calling about their refunds but find a time to do it. Finally, be calm and listen - if you do own money, it's an obligation but not a scarlet letter. You probably don't have to up end your life, you can get payment plans, etc. Assuming you haven't lied to the IRS or withheld something material, that will end the dispute. Also, you can sign up online for your account information - I think it took about 30 minutes for me to do it- we have estimated payments/extensions, and all manner of complications with K1s, etc. You can look up your status and be prepared when you call the IRS.
