I'm a couple of years older than Luke Perry but I enjoyed watching 90210 - I was in my mid 20's when it debuted and it was a guilty guilty pleasure. I was a young single woman just starting out in my career and it reminded me of my carefree youth which was only a couple of years prior. From what I've read, he didn't abuse drugs and he wasn't a smoker (at least not a regular, heavy smoker.) It seems like most of the young stars who've died is because of reckless behavior (drugs, alcohol, fast driving, etc) or suicide. A stroke is so "normal."
Yes, this. People in this age bracket aren't supposed to just "up and die" for health reasons. Either it's something that's been a long time coming with substance abuse/mental health issues, or its sudden and tragic (car accident) or it's at the end of a long illness. It's scary to think someone that age could be basically fine on Wednesday and be gone on Monday with no intervening action.
