D.C. its on and popping. Report: Kushner Family Pays $1.1B for 6,000 Apartments in Maryland, Virginia https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Report-Kushner-Family--506270541.html
Real estate investors buy apartments when they expect recessions. But Kushner is a terrible real estate investor, so who knows.
Kushner is also a terrible landlord; this is awful news for renters in this region. Anyone celebrating this acquisition is gross. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/kushner-companies-fined-lying-about-rent-regulated-tenants_us_5b84aaf1e4b0cf7b002e5609 https://medium.com/s/powertrip/jared-kushner-was-my-landlord-68bdac28b23c https://www.propublica.org/article/kushner-companies-loses-a-key-motion-in-class-action-filed-by-baltimore-tenants
Here is a more balanced view: https://www.bizjournals.com/washington/news/2019/02/25/reports-kushner-cos-buys-6-000-apartments-across.html?ana=e_n_set1&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWkRFMk16aGxPRGczTnpZMyIsInQiOiIyYXF0cllHTXBoTFFpNzVQdXA3ZlFWRUJXMFdwd2dYQkdSbmp3Y1NKYmowRm9zb3ZiM0JxdVlLWGJJUldlRmNhdHJPWkRXYnVGQXU3Q2ljYWd4cmx3VTMyXC94eng1VXQ4ajBjcWxaWFh4WDFTVWNuVTNJRVJCZ1NYQldNenV6SlEifQ%3D%3D
Jared Kushner, meanwhile, has no role in any of this, a spokesman for his attorney, Abbe Lowell, told Bloomberg. “As part of an ethics agreement he has and has followed, Mr. Kushner has had no role in the Kushner Companies or its activities since joining the government over two years ago,” Mirijanian said. “He is walled off from any business or investment decisions and has no idea or knowledge of these activities."

Yes because Kushner is so trustworthy.
Look morality police - I feel for you, I really do. But this is the real estate boards, its about real estate investments plan and simple. And a buy-out like this puts D.C. on the map in way that only previously cities like NYC or Chicago or San Francisco were seeing. As for the 'this is more proof of a recession', is that the same proof that said interest rates were going to hike all throughout 2018 and 2019? Because that was a lot of smoke and mirrors as well.
So your position is that the real estate board isn’t the place to talk about the ethics of real estate investors? Cool cool. (Also I can’t believe anyone with two brain cells to rub together posted the laughable quote from Kushner’s attorney. I almost hope it was a troll because I refuse to believe that anyone is that much of a sucker.)
