Op I am having a similar issue. I say dont buy the shoes but buy other stuff that is on the list. I have a 6yo DD and we picked a 6yo girl. We only have to buy one thing of the list but can but more if we want to . For toys it said, lego and play doh so I got both of those. For clothes it said size 12 pants and size 14 tops. Now, my kid is pretty well built and she is in a 7/8 so I can see a larger kid being a 10 maybe. But i cant imagine any 6yo being in a size 12 pants and a 14 shirt. I am pretty sure these clothes if bought are going to another person. So I am skipping the clothes and buying the 2 toys requested.
Who cares if the clothes are going to someone else? You sound like a horrible person.
Yes, like maybe a 12 or 13 y/o sibling who has aged out of the program? Better make sure that kid doesn't take advantage!
I am the PP that posted this. I get that some of you disagree with me, but do I choose clothes that I would buy for my 6yo ( larger) or clothes for a young teen then? Our Church only requests we but one thing so I dont think I am being mean. We are not rich either. My kid is getting 6 things for xmas.
I would buy clothes in the suggested size and just make sure they are neutral in the sense that they aren't "babyish" in case they are really for someone older, but also not teenage styles in case they are (more likely) just for a very large/overweight 6 year old. Target has a lot of stuff that fits this bill in their girls section, I was there recently looking for size 12 girls clothes for a charity gift and they had things like unicorn sweatshirts (trendy for tweens and also popular for younger kids), athleisure type plain hoodies, shirts with stars, etc
