GM is closing a plant in Baltimore, losing 300 jobs. hogan sure couldn't keep those jobs here like he promised. This plant closing, and those lost jobs, are on HIM. He failed to keep GM here. Jealous would've saved those jobs. Are you happy, hogan supporters?
You are very much out of touch with reality. The reality is that the White Marsh plant makes transmissions for cars that by 2020 will no longer be produced in the US due to restructuring. No politician would have been able to change this fact. This plant would have had at most another year in that location, but due to the corporate restructuring going on NOW it happened now instead of next summer. Additionally, they are moving away from traditional transmissions and moving towards electric and autonomous systems in cars. Here is a quote from an article about the announcement and one from the MD State Dept of Commerce: https://foxbaltimore.com/news/local/300-jobs-affected-white-marsh-gm-plant-to-close
Going forward, GM intends to focus on electric and autonomous vehicle programs, similar to the strategies being taken by other car makers. [...] The Maryland Department of Commerce also said in a statement: “The decision by GM not to allocate new products to the White Marsh facility is disappointing, and the state stands ready to provide resources and support for the impacted workers. This was a corporate decision to undertake a national restructuring, a decision the state did not have the opportunity to influence.
If the state did not have the opportunity to influence the decision, why do you think a new governor would have been able to change this? And frankly, he's only governor-elect and wouldn't take office for another 6 or so. Why do you think he could influence a decision that was probably made months ago. It was announced today, but these things take months to prepare for the public announcement.
