The NXT Philly Showcase was held last weekend. Saw several local kids made the Fab Forty All Star teams. How impressive is that? I have no idea, but I noticed several local high school programs and clubs were touting the kids who were selected on social media.
These fab teams and the like are all clever marketing. Tournaments have figured out their market--club and high school teams who want and need to have parents thinking they have to be at the event for kids to succeed and be noticed for the next level of play.
My son has attended both Philly Showcase and the Invitational. Great exposure to college coaches D1-3, period. Obviously it is your money, spend it how you wish. What non-tournaments or showcases would you recommend to get the same level of exposure? I've sat in the stands for years, watching MIAA, IAC, WCAC and VA Public matches. Never in my life have I seen more then a handful of coaches at any high school game ... and those would be the local schools at that (JHU, MD, Loyola, etc...). Good luck to your kid getting noticed playing in the spring.
+1 Well said, PP>
