No SAT - 30 ACT with 3.6 UW GPA.
Was this early decision admit, pp? Curious because I have a ds who wants to attend NYU with 1390 sat and 3.7 uw gpa but can’t do early decision.
Yes - ED to NYU (Tisch). Unfortunately had to decline due to finances - their package was all loans. Things worked out as he is happy where he landed. Good luck to you and your son.
URM?
No.
NP: Tisch is for the performing and media arts. URM or not, if they want you for your talents, they want you.
NYU is looking for full-students. If you are a full pay, they want you. Oberlin is for artistic/musical students who are also academically talented. They want you for your talent. Oberlin is more willing to invest in their students.
PP last year Oberlin could not fill its class. Many full pay DC kids were shocked to get rejected by NYU. Its fine to say all this based in 5 year old information but make sure that your kid does not end up in the shocked and disappointed by relying on dated information. This area has a ton of full pay kids with A averages from public and private who apply. Its not so easy to be in the 19%.
Oberlin class of 2022 is over filled by at least 100 students so this is dated information.
I guess... https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/12/12/oberlin-faces-budget-crunch-due-missed-enrollment-targets
Check the date genius. That was class of 2021.
I did not want not be a jerk but its even lower for the class of 2022 is actually smaller than 2021. Been falling for years and accepting kids with lower ranked in the class. Try to stay current! i know you think NYU is easy but parents on the board just have dated and unsupported viewpoints. If your going to spend 70k or send your kid at least read the material put out by the school. The class of 2021 has 2827 students and class of 2022 has 2785 students. Are you saying that the school is shrinking???? Was a program closed? https://public.tableau.com/profile/birdmanobie#!/vizhome/OberlinIRQuickFacts/Story1
Your link didn’t work for me but I can tell you it’s wrong if the data says there are over 2800 students in class of 2021! Oberlin has about 750 per class including the conservatory students. Of course this varies from year to year but it’s not something to freak out about. Just stop Googling stuff and throwing it out there like you understand what it’s saying. If people want to know about Oberlin there are plenty of families with actual experience there.
New poster the school's information linked above matches your numbers. Glad the school is doing well
