In Va for example, VDOT owns the right of way from edge of the road to your property line. There are also utility easements and depending on when your plat was sub divided and/or recorded, it is hard to tell. I know...I know....but best to get a survey.[/quote] Even if the county owns that strip of land and it is an easement we as homeowners are expected to maintain it. mow it , maintain it, and we pay taxes on it. There is an expectation that even though it may be a right of way we would like it to look nice. Therefore, asking people not to park on it is not unreasonable. I really don’t think you would like huge Puddles of mud and tire tracks in that little strip of your yard while everything else looks nice. [/quote]
