I guess you could also argue that the formation has changed, given that we played 5 defenders and 3 holding mids against France.   As for the players' change, it is not meaningful as there is not much improvement in terms of quality of players. Coaching and players, among other factors, dictate the formation, not the converse.  Culture and coaching dictate style and strategy.  Let's wait and see what happens.  Formation can change on a game to game basis, so I dont see how pointing that out is relevant. [/quote]

When you line up with 5 defenders and 3 defensive midfielders in a friendly, it says a lot about your style of play and that you are playing for result (i.e., not to be embarrassed in a friendly game).  It shows where the coaching priorities are. [/quote]
