Perhaps W. Springfield 22152 for a good school/home price/commute balance?
I have a few co-workers who live in Springfield and they love ot but the school scores scared me off. I guess the consensus is that the great school scores are to be ignored. Compared to Montgomery county they’re awful for NoVa.
What do you mean the school scores scared you off? West Springfield HS is excellent and rated so. Irving Middle School gets great reviews. A few of the elementary schools get lower ratings because of their mixed population, but the schools are all awesome. We are at Rolling Valley and I can't imagine a better atmosphere. Really, if you stay in bounds for West Springfield, Lake Braddock, or Woodson you will definitely be happy with the schools and you'll be able to get a nice house and lot. You definitely sacrifice in commute to DC, though. Lots of people do it, but it's not easy and if both parents are commuting downtown it would definitely be hard. Depends on how flexible your work schedules are.
