At a time when torture BY the military was being done in Iraq, and was undermining the military, and doing far more damage to the US international reputation than torture of AQ prisoners by the CIA.

He was NOT a civil libertarian.   He did not agree with  you.   However the point is, he was willing to defy his own party on issues of importance to HIM.   Something all too many will not do.  He did not toe the line.  [/quote]
