This reminds me of 20 years ago the summer i interned in DC (last summer of college) and i kept a single condom in my purse.  I dated and slept with two guys that summer (after having been in a monogamous relationship for 3 years), and the condom was mostly for me to feel like i was in control of my own decisions. I don't think i ever used it.  A couple guy friends from the internship circle i socialized with that summer learned about the condom and were literally jaw dropped, "we need to think about how this changes our impression of you," and told me it by definition meant i was promiscuous.  The mere fact of carrying a condom that i hadn't yet used.  I was not from the US when this all happened, and i remember this being a rude awakening to the misogyny, repressed sexuality and bizarre double standards that many americans carry.  [/quote]

Yup they were dorks.  Just some dudes who were in the internship circle I met that summer. Not lifelong friends or anything.  But where I’m from, neither the cool people nor dorks think that way about women.  Still a repressed sexual American attitude.[/quote]
