It was my understanding that the DCE boys were freshmen. The only transfer was Schollenberger and a d-pole. My question is how many starters were actually displaced by this? Schollenberger replaces Trippi. The d guy? It’s elite HS lax. If you lose your spot, that’s on the player!
Excluding the freshmen, there were at least 5+ transfers just this year, at all positions. And, the discussion was about loyalty, so the transfers were brought up. Doesn't change the fact that kids have to work hard to get play time at that level. Just puts the claims of disloyalty into context at Bullis. The fact is the Bullis administration has to choose, not the parents. Do they win whatever the means, or do they develop a long term and sustainable program with "home grown" student athletes? Once that tone is set, then parents can choose to participate or not with their children. The recent (current?) head coach chose the former, and they won with a mix of transfers and "home grown"; but, it didn't come without a cost - bad rep, irritated parents, etc. Doesn't mean they have to abandon the plan, but no one should be surprised there were some negative outcomes to that decision and transition period. Now it looks like the administration is rethinking that plan . . . or not. Who knows. Could just be one parent with a lot of money throwing around his weight. Not sure we'll know the actual truth anytime soon.
