Oh, and even with Floreen in the mix, Ficker will never win.
+1. And that is why people will feel comfortable voting for floreen. There is no real risk of Ficker winning.
Unless, of course, he does. How confident are you in your prediction? I don't like Elrich either, but that's a risk I'm 100% unwilling to take. I'm planning to vote for Elrich. And yes, Floreen is a hypocrite.
Ficker's ceiling is around 25%. No matter how the rest is divided, there is no way someone else doesn't win. And to avoid the very real risk of Elrich, yes I am willing to accept the very tiny risk of Ficker winning.
Unlikely things happen. What are three specific things that you are so worried that Elrich would do, if he were county executive?
Please explain how you see a pluaisble path to victory for Ficker. That would require a massive number of democrats crossing over and voting for him. There is no way that happens. This is particularly true now that moderate democrats like myself have a viable alternative. In terms of Elrich, people's concerns about him have been discussed at length, but in very short I believe his policies would badly hurt job growth in the county and could undermine the tax base by encouraging those with the ability to do so to move to VA or DC, depriving the county of the funds needed for an even moderately progressive agenda.
I believe your concern is misplaced. Businesses are started where people LIVE. It’s a fact. No one wants a long commute, particularly not a CEO. Marriott was started in Bethesda because the Marriotts lived in Bethesda. Same with Honest Tea and others. People from Bethesda are ALREADY fleeing Bethesda for the District, or telling friends NOT to move here. This would just worsen under Floreen, who wants to spread MoCo’s traffic congestion and overcrowded schools to every nook and cranny of the County. She is openly contemptuous of long-time residents. If you want higher taxes, vote for her and her platform of bringing the worst of Germantown to Chevy Chase.
