The character of Vik explained tonight his parents are from Beirut. He wants Helen to have a baby. She doesn't want one. Spoiler alert************ Vik has pancreatic cancer and he is refusing treatment. He is dying, but still wants a baby. I don't like these characters. Seriously.m
She's not going to have a baby. That would be absurd. She basically admitted to the therapist she doesn't love him. Why does he even want a baby that he won't get to know and Helen will have to raise, probably with some other schmuck that she somehow seduces?
I think he wants her to have the baby so his parents have something left of him when he dies. Sounds like he is an only child and he cares a lot about his parents.
Meh. That is so not a good enough reason to ask your 50-something girlfriend, who has no relationship with your parents by the way and no connection to California, to bear a 5th child who she will raise as a single parent. Also find it odd that this is the first Helen is hearing of his all-eclipsing appreciation/love/guilt for his parents. His "it was all for nothing" statement struck me as sort of a childish way of viewing the sacrifice his parents made for him to become successful. What about all those years of helping patients? Why did he never bother having a kid to this point, if the Ullah legacy was so important? It's not like he or his parents were going to live forever. I get he's still processing the news and is emotional but..it just feels wrong. Then again, I've never quite understood his love for Helen, so.
Smart and well-put. I wish I knew you in real life.
That's the English major in me coming out! Also, work is slow this week.
