I think Gilbert is one of the stronger ones on that cast. Roseanne herself was awkward/forced and it made me sad to see how bad her acting is now when I really enjoyed her on the first run of the show. And the actress that plays Becky is really terrible. I hope they can make a spinoff work.
Roseanne became forced and awkward the last couple seasons of the original. I never could figure out why her acting style changed. I love Laurie Metcalf, and I think Sarah Gilbert is great. I totally think they could reboot the show without Roseanne. I hope they give it a try.
I felt like Sara Gilbert was carrying the show. Roseanne felt really forced like she was trying really hard to act like the Roseanne character from before. Maybe it was just because she hasn't acted in a long time. A spin off I don't see doing as well in ratings. What might work as a spin off is to focus on Darlene and David and what happened after they married but that would change the cast again as the actor and actress for her kids would have to be replaced. I think ABC was too rash in their decision to cancel and are likely regretting their choice. It sounds like it was their lead show for the fall season and their biggest money maker.
