I am trying to figure out if I am being sensitive or if some parents of dc's former teammates are being uber competitive. They aren't being forthcoming about what their dc's are doing in regards to the sport and seem reluctant to share with me information about where they are playing, what extra training they may be doing, etc. To be honest, I am not certain if it is competitiveness or jealousy at this point. Why wouldn't people want to share what they are doing or get weird if I try to get my dc involved too?
I am one of these parents. My reasons: 1 - I found out about options by asking coaches and researching on the Internet. As soon as I would tell other people, I would get requests to send links to sites and then follow up requests for more info. If I could find out the info, they can do so they need to do their own dang research if they are so interested. 2 - Inevitably I would get hit up for "car pool" requests which were basically asking if I could take their kid because they had work, other activities, so on. Guess what? I work as well and figured out how to make time. They can too. So no, I don't want to take your kid all the time.
