You can stop blaming the counties and principals. People who teach, sub, volunteer, etc., all go through the SAME process. They may never have been caught, they have no record, or they haven't done anything up to now. A background check will likely turn up nothing. The schools did their part.
BS - no one saw this guy do anything before??? The point is that MCPS tells their employees to call Central Office - not the police or Child Protective Services. That is what needs to change.
YEP, that is right, no one apparently had any concerns. Your assumption that CPS was covering is ridiculous. In addition, if a child indicated sonething, police would be involved. That's how this happened. Sorry, but pedophiles work like this...the Catholic Church was at it for decades before everyone knew. Not one principal has any more responsibility in this, unless they directly saw something, were told something, or knew something and did nothing. There are pedophiles that work in places where there are children....unfortunately.
The Cloverly principal sat in the class and called the Central Office before calling the police. She didn't immediately report the sub.
She did report...the order of phone calls here at the time of knowledge has nothing to do with it. She called them, I am sure, to notify them of the second call. She didn't provide an opportunity for him to continue abuse. GET REAL. Are you really blaming the principal for this? This guy was in many schools. What is your beef with those principals?
This is the third pedophile arrested at Cloverly while she has been principal. YES - the order of the phone calls is Child Protective Services, Special Victims Investigations, then Central Office. Calling Central Office first potentially interferes with what needs to be a police investigation.
Are you saying Central Office did nothing? You would have to be sure of that. The word potential....there is the problem. As far as this school having 3...that might mean that this school is having more success in finding these perps out...not that they are providing a culture with which they can operate, because all those guys were in other schools, including this last one, and he wasn't caught in those schools. That doesn't mean he wasn't operating in those schools. There was an article about a serial molester not too long ago who did have incidents in various local schools, and the Eastern Shore. There would have been plenty of blame to go around then about what was and was not done. Now things are much more strict...it includes parent volunteers, too. And yet, there will be instances of subs and staff who are caught, unfortunately. Principals don't have crystal balls. I would need a lot more information about what this principal did or did not do before I started the blame train.
Nice try. John Vigna was at Cloverly for decades and the principal knew he was touching children and lap sitting with the little girls. That is success? Leaving him in a classroom for decades? Cloverly is providing a culture with which they can operate and they know it. Just like parents, pedophiles have chat rooms and they even have lobbyists in Annapolis. Who is lobbying for your child?
