I can’t count how many times I asked if he’d rather drive. I wanted to kick him out of the car, but it never occurred to me to get out and walk. At home, sometimes he’ll offer unsolicited advice to “help,” especially with dinner. If he does it too much I’ll just leave the room and tell him to do it himself since he knows more about it than I do. I don’t see anything wrong with my response (I’ve aske him to stop before and he didn’t) and I think OP’s response was similar. After realizing that he needed to actually help or be quiet, DH has stopped trying to micromanage things as much, and I feel more comfortable asking for help if I need it. [/quote]
