Former NYer and there it was easy to hit 10,000 steps per day, and my goal was 12-15,000. Since moving to the DC suburbs...it is hard to get to 10,000. I average in my day to day 6-7,000. And yes, I’ve gained about 8lbs in the last two years I’ve lived here. I’m trying to make a more concerted effort, but I hate that I have to work to get to 10,000. Would love to hear anyone’s tips or tricks for getting over the hump and to the next level with increasing steps. Right now, I can only get to 7-8,000 if I take an hour long walk during the day separate from the rest of my daily tasks and errands.
Pp who lives in Ashburn. Every morning i walk to starbucks. Its 2 miles RT and approx 5500 steps. I then walk my kids to elementary school, another 2000. By 745 AM, I have in 7500 steps. I work on the ground floor at work and use thr bathroom on the 6th floor and take the stairs. Unless it is raining, i walk on my lunch break, or walk to lunch, another 2500 steps. Adding in all the bs walking around the office, i often leave each day with 10k. I have a grocery store very close to my home and often walk there foe quick trips. I walk the dog in the evening and it i can squeeze it in, I LOVE getting on my treadmill for an hour and watch a show, but that can happen MAYBE 2xs a week. I will say though, i will NOT do any outside walking when its this god awful cold. Tomorrow AM Im hitting my basement treadmill (and watch my show!)in the morning before work and will drive the kids to school all this week.
