So if the boys wear khakis --- what should the girls wear to match?
Any dress they want. Since the elementary winter choir and band concerts are now, why not wear whatever they're planning to wear for Hanukkah or Christmas, or whatever dress they would wear to a nice event?
The focus should be on the music, not the fashions onstage. The “uniform” requirements are for just that purpose. Besides, no Jewish kid I know (including mine) has a special outfit for Hanukkah. We certainly don’t dress up for this holiday the way Christians might for Christmas. And our High Holy Day outfits are either seasonally inappropriate or too somber for a festive occasion. (Though now that I think about it, Yom Kippur would be a perfect opportunity for my DS to wear black pants and a white dress shirt! :D)
