Jut because your child's announcement seems "sudden" to you doesn't mean that it hasn't been well thought out by the child over a long period of time.

Trans kids are at huge risk of suicide and other self-harming behaviors. Family support is a tremendous protective factor.

If the child is under 18 it’s not their choice whether they transition. Get them psychiatric help. 
Also, consult the American Academy of Pediatricians on guidelines regarding transgenderism in children. PPs post about a child having a “well thought out” transgender decision is extremely misguided. Your child needs mental help. Not an enabler.[/quote]
