Your description of Maine is incredibly different of what we are doing for 2 weeks here in glorious weather. But--we all love the outdoors. We swim in gorgeous lakes and my kids love the cold ocean. I have been eating pounds of lobster and haddock nothing fried. My 9-year old is going to grow a shell soon he loves the lobster so much. We are near a small town with better restaurants than anything in DC. The population is highly educated. No dumb white trashy lume most of Atlantis. I never want to come home. Glorious 75 degree days and a light sweater at night. No swamp ass and stifling humidity.
This! I hate over-stimulating places. Places I don't find appealing: huge resorts, Disney, music festivals. I'd love to do a nice long trip to beautiful Maine.
+1
Maine lovers, where do you recommend going specifically?
I love Popum Beach, and it's not too far north-I don't know what rentals are like around there, but the areas is cute and quieter. Ogunquit is a great beach if you want something busier with more touristy stuff in southern maine. Casco Bay Islands are nice because you can take the ferry into Portland for the restaurants and such-the beaches tend to be small island beaches.
