Not sure. My kids are 4 years apart, though. The bigger age gap is awesome for us. I've gotten to really enjoy/focus on each one''s babyhood, and when I get babied-out with the little one, I can spend big-kid time with the big one. I had the first at 33 and second at 37, so I had age somewhat on my side...I didn't feel desperate to have the second. Also, I wasn't sure I wanted a second for a long time...not until after the first turned 3.
I would have felt so old having my first kid at 33.
Is your peer group fairly uneducated? Not one of my friends had a baby before 30 due to advanced degrees and careers.
+1.
Oh, you guys are such insufferable snobs. I have an Ivy League degree, a MA, a career I love - and had my first baby at 29. I know there are others like me out there.
Yes, DH and I are like you. We had our first when I was 29 and he was 27 (which now sounds so young to me!) and we are both Ivy League grads with advanced degrees. We just met in college so we were totally ready by the time we were in our late 20s (well, I was in my late 20s... and my clock was ticking...) We are not even remotely religious or traditional either. We saw a first wave of friends have kids at around the same time, but it was mostly those who, like us, had been already dating/married for 8+ years. Ours are 3.5 years apart and I love it, I always thought 2 years apart was way too close together (although, to each her own and all). If we have a third we'll also space that one 3 years apart, so I'll have had one at 29, the next at 33, the last at 36.
Wow, we could be twins! I had my second at 33 as well - 3.5 year age gap is the best! But we are done with two for sure.
