Like ANY profession, there are jerks. Absolutely true. I know plenty of doctors, lawyers, financiers, etc., who are alcoholics or who cheat or hit their wives. Really I socioeconomic class or profession is immune.

I also know a ton of cops who do their job with integrity and are always willing to go the extra mile to help someone (mine included!). I know a ton of cops who have never had a use of force complaint filed against them. I know a ton who are wonderful husbands and fathers. And I work in a profession that intertwines with the police so I am around hundreds of cops and see them in their off hours, their coming and going, and overhear their conversations.

I love my policeman. He's strong and sexy and also caring and funny. You can find these qualities in a lot of professions, though, just like you can find bad men, too.

And yes--it's definitely a life you have to be prepared for. He frequently has to stay late because he got a call as his shift was ending. His shifts have been very odd hours over the years. He can't make holidays sometimes and or vacations are always planned around his schedule. But it's okay, I've never had a problem with it. Some women would be very resentful. [/quote]
