I think if you could hear the music three blocks away and it took twenty minutes to turn off, thats a problem according to existing law. I was speaking with my spouse and we think one should e able to buy a permit for a party (maybe limited to one a year?). At times there is reason to celebrate and male noise (graduations, anniversaries) and a mechanism would be nice. I think we should change the law if we don't like it, but not pretend she didn't egregiously break the one we have now.
I agree with you. And if you live in a neighborhood with a noise ordinance, you either have the party during the daylight hours when noise is allowed or you rent a hall somewhere where you are allowed to have loud parties. But once you rent in such a neighborhood, you live within the rules or you work with the local officials to make exceptions before you host such a party. Is there some reason that they didn't host such a party from 5-10pm or 2-10pm? Is there a reason that they needed to start this at 9pm and violate the noise ordinance which started at 10pm?
