My kids have one parent who is from the region and we chose Alexander for one kid's name for that reason. We wanted a name that would be portable and have significance across cultures. I don't know if Ella has an immediate parallel in Arabic, but it would be easy enough to pronounce and recognize in Arabic.[/quote]
