[/quote] But it is recognizable in Arabic as well as other Middle Eastern languages, sometimes as Iskander. My kids have one parent who is from the region and we chose Alexander for one kid's name for that reason. We wanted a name that would be portable and have significance across cultures. I don't know if Ella has an immediate parallel in Arabic, but it would be easy enough to pronounce and recognize in Arabic.[/quote]
