We lease our cars and never put money down. We tell them an amount for the monthly payment we're willing to pay (usually a little lower than the truth) and it's pretty much take it or leave it. They somehow always find a way to make the deal work. We also never pay at the end of the lease. My DH drives more miles than I do so we just switch cars for a bit to even it out.
