Inova Fairfax is NOT a MedStar facility.  Biggest downside of Georgetown is that if you have a cardiac issue you will be transferred to Washington Hospital Center. [/quote]

That must be new, because last time I was in the ER (2years ago) my friend who works at Georgetown was allowed to come into the FFX ER to work with her team she had been training at Georgetown to work on me.  Does that make sense? But my other ortho who has INOVA Alexandria rights was not allowed.
But had to participate over the phone,  it was a shock trauma type of situation.  They needed all hands on deck.[/quote]
Nope, not new. Inova Health System (5 hospitals + urgent care centers + outpatient facilities) has never been part of the MedStar Health System. Most likely the physician had privileges at both places so was able to provide care in the ER at Fairfax. Sounds like the ortho at Inova Alexandria only had privileges at that facility, not Inova Fairfax. Georgetown is not a level-1 trauma center like Fairfax is. If it was a resident, there's a chance he/she could have been doing a rotation at Fairfax.
