Call the Midwife (best strong woman show ever)
It's not a light show, though. Not dark exactly but so many sad storylines that stuck with me. I had to stop watching after a while.
I find childbirth and complications therein much more depressing than clones and imaginary monsters.
Not only that but there are other storylines about people in the town that were incredibly sad. I found it to be a quality show in many ways but it just sat too heavy with me. Definitely not a good binge-watching option. OP, the only ones I would add are: Orange is the New Black -- same creator as Weeds; supporting cast has some great, strong women (but not necessarily the lead..and her role diminishes over the course of the series) The Killing -- probably too dark, but that was a really excellent show centered around a smart and fiercely independent (and of course troubled) woman Big Love (I believe you can get this on amazon) -- focuses on the sister wives as strong women and the casting is just perfect
