What is Trump going to do about this?
If he blows up thr H1B vis program i dont give a fuck what else he does. I'll vote him into kinghood.
He got my got due to immigration. Stop the H1B fraud and OPT fraud and F1 fraud. Just make employers pay 150K for the best and brightest. They can have as many as they want at 150k indexed by inflation
Lol. They pay my DH a heck of a lot more than that to do his software engineering job. He does tech interviews for his company, which would love to hire American workers and not deal with H1Bs. Good luck with that. Even the DMV is definitely not flush with smart, talented, experienced softwear engineers. Americans with this skills set can write their own ticket. Because there is not a surplus of Americans with talent, education and experience in this area. Or, if there is, maybe you can point them out?
NP here. You've posted on these threads before about how your husband conducts interviews and is convinced there aren't any -- not a single one -- Americans competent enough or skilled enough to do the job. You are not convincing. There are plenty of verifiable examples of cases where H1Bs were hired to replace American workers and the American workers were even forced to TRAIN THEM. (Disney in Florida is a case in point.) The issue is not lack of skills or potential among Americans. It's pay. Companies not only can get away with paying H1B workers a lot less, but they know those workers are dependent on them so are less likely to lodge formal complaints about other issues. I don't blame the H1B workers, and the worst thing to happen with all of this recent attention on immigration is people demonizing immigrants. The focus should really be on employers who exploit immigrants, the system, et cetera.
It's obvious bc you DH isn't paying enough for what he wants. He is competing with SV for the skills you describe, where starting salaries are $200k and you get an IPO lottery ticket. He is just like the call center H1B, importing cheaper workers because he is unwilling to pay market rate
