We live in Fairfax and a two hour delay starts the day at 11:15. One of my kids had lunch at 11:30. It does feel silly.

I'm always surprised when DCPS doesn't close-with so many kids walking and taking public transportation to school, it seems like bad weather esp sleet like this would making walking pretty treacherous. [/quote]

I remember when I used to teach for DCPS. A few days after they made the call to open on a day like today, I met a former student who had just had a cast placed.  She had slipped on the ice going to school and broken a limb.  As a chronic pedestrian, it can be really scary to walk 'even a little ways' when there's ice. I am curious about the rest of the week if it refreezes--could be worse walking conditions than today![/quote]
