Me too. Also an Ivy grad...Common core is amazing. My second grader is doing much more in math, reading comprehension and writing. My children are in a Title I (low income( spanish dual language program in DCPS, so also becoming fluent in spanish. (Reading snd writting in spanish are a few levels below wgere she is in english-- both ahead of grade level). We also expose them to a lot of culture, history, current affairs through trips to museums, libraries, conversations about civics and civil rights and current events. We do sports activites, but havent gotten into one activity very seriously. They have mudic and will learn to read music as partbof their curriculum, as well as basic piano, but i want to put them in lessons. Havent gotten around to it. both of us work ft.[/quote]

I wish there were more of us. I'm another ivy grad who loves Common Core too. Too many people who aren't into education have given these standards a bad name.[/quote]
