I agree with a lot of your points OP! We have horrific roads here, car tax is outrageous, I too hate the windshield sticker and I pay way too much in taxes. I'm pissed off about my 1/2 day Kindergarten too. I'm hoping by the time my infant gets there, it will be full day. But I think N. VA is a pretty area. I have pleasant neighbors, love my HOA, love our jobs, love going into DC on the weekends (we both used to work/live there, but our jobs moved out to Loudoun).
Glad you like it. My neighbors are good, some not, but majority are. Don't care about DC, been there a few times, saw sights and that was it. Like when I lived in NYC, I didn't got to the Empire State Bldg or take the ferry to Statue of Liberty every weekend. I think I went to both maybe twice in all the years I lived there. As for VA vs Tahoe, to me, not even close. Crystal clear lake for summer fun, mountains for fresh air and hiking and biking and rafting, and tons of winter activities, plus an actual snow removal/plowing system in place!! HOA here in Bram sucks worse than any other HOAs I have dealt with.
