When the government spends money on poor people 100% of it goes directly back into the economy to pay for food, housing, health care, etc. and then those companies spend it on payroll, equipment, etc. A billion dollars of Medicaid spending provides much more overall benefit to the economy than a billion dollars of tax cuts for the wealthy.
