I don't understand why people talk about addiction as if the addicts aren't people anymore. The term junkie is derogatory,  and assumes that person has no worth. There is still a human spirit under the addiction.  [/quote]  Agree!  And I don't get comparing a man who found himself addicted to prescription pain medications, who recognized the addiction and was actively seeking help, to a junkie on the street who when I think of that word is someone that lies, steals, commits crimes and acts in very immoral ways to sustain their addiction, There is no comparison in my opinion.
