Anecdotally, this is what I have found with some Democrats and left leaning Independents who I know personally. They will not always come out and state directly that they support Trump but suggest that they like Trump for reasons varying from his business acumen to  his positions on amnesty and being generally dismissive of political correctness.

IMO, there really are those who support Trump but will not come out and say it in the open. The ones that I know are generally well educated people.

Trump is leading in the polls because of the media circus that he's been generating.  Controversy sells, so the media covers it, which gives Trump tons and tons of free publicity.[/quote]
