eh, my kids still play outside.  Most kids do.

When I worked in a large building I absolutely did not know everyone by name in that building.  But I could generally tell you which department they worked in and I usually knew someone in that dept who could have told me their name...

Yes.  I would see people from other depts in the work cafeteria or the parking lot or during a fire drill or on a smoke break (I used to smoke).  In fact, I met lots of people from other departments that way.  You see the direction people walk in, what floor they go to, so you have a general idea of what dept they work in.  If I needed to get a person's name for some reason (maybe they dropped something that I wanted to give back to them) I would just ask a person that I did know who worked in that dept.[/quote]

Just realized you were asking if I could have gotten names during a work holiday.  Maybe, but it would have been more difficult.

But in the case of kids being off for the summer....well, they live in your neighborhood so, yeah, I wouldn't expect to have to go back to school to figure out who lived around the block from me.[/quote]
