She got fired because she plagiarized a fkton of her writing. Read the NYtimes article showing her work side by side with the original sources. The entire country has gone nuts. Everything is a “social justice” battle. And course curriculums now focus on “oppressors” and “oppressed”. So we have an entire generation digesting this stuff and the next 20 years will be interesting. TLDR; Everyone is an idiot.
+1
Well, some don’t want to waste an opportunity for outrage and to blame Jews for yet another thing they don’t actually control.
Well every news story says she was forced to resign because of antisemitism.
This. She was clearly and quite openly forced to resign due to her position on the Palestinian protests and alleged anti-semitism. Stories along these lines, tweets on condemnation and calls for her ousting have been pretty public - all based explicitly on the Israel/Anti-semitism issue. Now that she has been fired - sorry, resigned - folks like Ackhman, Rufo, and far right (and pro-israel left) are insisting that it had nothing to do with the his daily rants re: Ivy League campus protests but some long ago cases of plagiarism. Ackman is now on an anti-DEI quest, which he is coding for no more POC on campus who don't toe the line. Gay has been replaced with a white, Jewish man who is very much in line with the the lobby's political views. Yet on the heels of all of this, and Magill's firing, we're supposed to believe that it had nothing to do with the Free Palestine protests on campus. No one believes that. Absolutely no one. I doubt that the PPs posting about plagiarism even care. You know why you started the witch hunt, and the black president was an easy target.
Of course it was related to the free Palestine protests. Those protests finally exposed extent to which DEI and oppressor/oppressed ideology have engulfed higher education. One result of which is Gay being selected for a position that she was not qualified for and without thorough vetting. BTW I support Gays position that the students right to have “free Palestine” protests. But Gay and the rest of the board who implement and embrace DEI nonsense need to go.
