This is such utter BS.  Sure, crime in the 90s was "localized" if that "local area" was "everywhere that isn't Ward 3."

And violent crime discriminates against no one in this city in 2023. We’ve had multiple murders of random citizens on the metro this year.

This. Here EoTP in the 90s. Metro was safe. Crime was mostly after dark or when there were not lots of people around. No longer the case. A guy was just shot in a robbery/carjacking in Columbia Heights after leaving Marshalls, right near the Giant, on Sunday. People need to stop normalizing this, it's NOT normal, not even for DC.
