Megan is from a really nice family. Her siblings are pro athletes (sisters) and a model (brother). She is from a great family in St. Louis, big Irish-Catholic. She is a smart woman. She went to HS with my sister and is very down to earth and kind. I think she and some of her siblings (brother) always wanted to be famous. But does that make her mentally unstable? No. I imagine dealing with three kids including one child with special needs during the pandemic would be challenging.
She could be a lovely person. And raising a SN kid is always hard. But to snap a pic of a miserable and hopeless moment in your life with tears on your face…for strangers, does make her fame hungry, sad, and odd. Her reaching fans at that moment was more important than her son’s right to privacy or even her having a moment to reflect on next steps.
Kate Swenson who writes the wonderful blog, findingcoopersvoice.com about her son with severe autism, has also posted similar pics and feelings. Maybe you can’t relate but there are many of us who do and appreciate them giving a voice and awareness to the challenges our families face every day.
Giving a voice? Sure. Showing you’re not alone? Great. A tear streaming down your face at the moment of pick up? No. If you follow SN social Media posts, most have a pic of the kid and a written explanation of how bad the day was. I can’t remember a single one who has done that —as the bad moment was happening.
You see all media posts for SN moms? Wow!
Not all but many. I wouldn’t even snap a pic like that for as a private text to my spouse. It’s attention seeking. Plain and simple.
