The mental gymnastics that PPs are doing to defend the indefensible of Manchin obstructing this bill along with his GOP clown posse is hilarious. Oh it’s the economics - except it’s not. Oh it’s the budget - except it’s not. Oh it’s blah, blah, blah. Talk about cutting off your noses to spite your faces all in pursuit of power, big business interests, and fascism. Red states and their citizens would be the primary beneficiaries of the BBB. There would be some progress to stem climate change, some relief for working and middle class families. But the GOP clown posse and Manchin (heretofore CP+M) are more interested in half truths and blockades that actually HURT their constituents, giving tax breaks to billionaires, and watching our planet shrivel and die. Oh, and march us toward fascism while they’re at it. I hope this vote - and the fact that Manchin was aided by every single Republican - will not be forgotten. Vote in 2022 like your life depends on it. Because it does.
Well Democrats keep up this stupid hand waving rhetoric right into major losses in 2022.
In 2022 if people want to vote R because of rhetoric of poor economic wellbeing they will need to be strongly and loudly reminded that it's because of what Manchin and the Republicans did to sabotage their economic wellbeing.
It's funny how the Democrats are *already* anticipating losing the House, even quite badly. That is why they are desperate to pass the bill. But they will lose badly if inflation isn't brought under control, and one of the reasons Manchin refuses to support the bill is that adding another $2T deficit spending has powerful implications for inflation. So perhaps Manchin refusing to support the bill will actually help mitigate the growth of inflation and in turn, mitigate the scale of the Democratic losses. Look - people aren't going to vote against the Democrats for failing to pass this bill. They will vote against the Democrats if they pass this bill. What you want is not what other people want. Too many people forget this.
The bill was deficit neutral. It was the most fiscally responsible piece of legislation since Clinton's budgets.
