Totally agree with your comments, especially about Mandy Moore.  Is she a mother IRL?  Because she absolutely nails that part, every time.  I almost lost it during the therapy scene when she finally broke down and admitted that Randall was just “easier,” especially compared to the sullen teens that Kevin and Kate were.  I think we all have kids like that, or stages when one kid is just far more pleasant to be around than the other(s).  I know I do.  And then the dynamics will often change. I completely felt her guilt over favoring Randall.[/quote]
