So 2,500 marines are going to sit on a small island just off the coast of Iran and get droned?  The Navy is going to need several ships just to protect them.  Heck, the island is within rocket and artillery range of the mainland.[/quote]

It's more likely that they don't even have a plan for the troops yet. Trump/Hegseth needed to do something for a news cycle given the embarrassing strait quagmire.[/quote]
