You are nuts. For girls, HS coaches at most provide a reference. It is all done through clubs. And thinking about boys, with the exception of Bordley at Landon, it is also done primarily through the clubs.
I agree that for girls the club teams are the primary source for recruiting NOW but I think the shift is coming for girls just like it did for boys. In boys lax there has been a tremendous shift in the DMV over the past 2 years from club supremacy in recruiting to now the hs coaches. It definitely is true for Landon, Bullis and Gonzaga. There are one or two others but I would have to check with my son about which schools those are. In any event, those coaches have moved to the forefront of recruiting with their hs teams. I think that the same shift will begin to impact girls lax as well. I see a lot of women moving in to coach hs teams, reacting to their past experiences and moving to rectify it by taking stronger roles in the recruiting process. That tight hold of Capitals and KJ is starting to loosen and it cannot come soon enough. More power to these hs coaches if they can put forward a less biased process and be more equitable in their efforts than what we are currently seeing.
