Harris down in recent NYT national poll Harris 47% Trump 48% Seems like post convention bump is gone and she is losing support. Maybe do an interview or press conference so people actually get to see her and ask her questions. Hard core Dems will vote for her no matter what. It’s the Independents she is bleeding.
Maybe. If the NYT poll questions are like their reporting is these days, the poll may not capture reality among independents. I’m an independent. I was very pleased when Biden dropped out and was impressed (and surprised) by Harris in the first weeks. Here is the nuance: I’m less excited right now because she doesn’t pleasantly surprise me. She’s a solid candidate and will be a smart, tough commander in chief. She has my vote but I’m not breathlessly following her. I don’t want to breathlessly follow any candidate or president. I want them to do the job efficiently and effectively without drama. Trump is old and crazy. Actually demented. And boring. I want him to proceed to the 19th hole now. I would have been more interested in the GOP had Haley been the nominee.
“She’s a solid candidate and will be a smart, tough commander in chief. “ What about the past 3 years makes you think she will a smart tough commander in chief? Her warning to Putin not to invade Ukraine was useless. She did not sieve the root cause cause's of the immigration issue. Up until may, there was discussion about dropping her off the Biden ticket as she was so unpopular and had a worse approval rating than Biden? I do t understand not that people think she is amazing after that. And all the problems she is promising to fix after the election, how about staring now!!! She is basically in right now and these issue have been going on under her administration with Biden?
Pp here. I’m not swayed by approval ratings. I listened to various speeches she has given since becoming the candidate. Vice presidents don’t lead on policy. She handled hecklers well and did not need to resort to siccing her supporters on them. She is neither bombastic nor incoherent. I am not in agreement with all of her policy proposals but the trend of strengthening the middle class is vital to our national security. I had forgotten her examination of various scotus nominees when she was senator, but she showed herself to be strong and smart in those cases. Trump is not interested in our national security and will degrade our position as the preeminent hegemon. I cannot in good conscience vote for that.
I disagree with you on her ability to lead or even be truthful. Maybe sit down and answer some non-scripted questions from voters. And I don’t believe for a second that she is pro-fracking, will do anything about crime, do anything about the illegal immigration’s problem that has blown up the past 4 years. Her and Biden could not even admit there was any crisis til late 2023 when NYC started having problems and it was shown on the news. I respect your reasons to vote for her. I respectfully disagree.
