This all makes sense until you have to put together a sports schedule for a team not football. You move away from a league and you lose the ability to easily schedule games for your soccer team, your baseball team, you wrestling team, etc. It isn't that you can't find games in the early part of a season but for a sport like lacrosse, you are going to have to find games in April when all your other former league opponents have league games - you will need to grab bag games with opponents from all over the place. Certainly can mean playing games against Lawrenceville et al. but that is a lot of travel for high school kids in non-revenue sports. If you want to think of the equivalent it is why ND football team is independent but all their other sports but hockey play in the ACC and Hockey plays in the B1G.

Not say it can't be done but a move like that has unintended consequences.[/quote]
