The role of the Jan6ers was to force a delay so the House and Senate would have time to push the key state decisions back to the states, or to get Grassley to accept the "fake elector" slates from those swing states who supplied them. It was a three-pronged plan that, again, had Pence left the Capitol, would have worked.

Then you should read up on who was behind the effort, the public plans ahead of time (there were threads in this forum about it in December 2020) and the accounts of how close it actually was.
