First, GDS is clearly among the top rank of schools.  They have the benefit of being in DC (e.g., no competition from great MoCo schools or TJ); they have a cohort of strong students as shown by very good National Merit Semifinalist numbers; and they are competitive with Sidwell, which has highly competitive admissions and a very strong cohort, in the sense that kids accepted to both schools will turn down SFS for GDS and vice versa.

[b]But [/b]please don't cite a non-public "placement record in Ivy league schools" as being notable -- it's not notable, because there's no record of it.  I happen to agree with GDS's policy not to publicize what I'm sure are excellent matriculation results, but they don't publish them and they cannot be compared.  Whoever is always suggesting they have the highest percentage of students go to Harvard or the Ivies or what-have-you does not have the data to make such a comparison, because even if they known the GDS results, they don't know the results for Sidwell/STA/NCS, for example.[/quote]
