For any of you snobby ass DCUM readers who chose to turn your nose up at the two STA grads who are attending Indiana, please take a flying leap off of Marriott Hall. These two young men are of the highest character and displayed on the athletic fields and in the life of the school consistently positive leadership. Having seen these young men as teammates and friends of my sons, it makes me furious to see their choice of college considered "disappointing" in some way. Both young men had several options and considered Indiana to be the best fit on multiple levels. Those of you who sneered at their college choice would be absolutely delighted to have either of these young men date your daughters. Of course, you may only let your daughters date boys from "certain" colleges. Let us hear how that strategy plays out.
You’re being naïve. I’m the PP who attended IU. My 15 nieces and nephews who live in IN all attend IU or Purdue. Both schools are filled with Indiana HS grads and Chicago suburb grads. To quote my niece to my DCs, “you must be poor because your neighborhood doesn’t have all white people”. My favorite is that the kids think any Asian looking person must be an international student. It’s not just my nieces and nephews, it’s Indiana. IU will not be a good fit for a STA grad. You have no idea how limited the thinking is. I wish them the best. Well, now that the PP decided to drag Purdue into this mix, as a Purude grad...I've got to say ENOUGH already! This line of attack is ridiculous. YES, I didn't go to STA but instead, a plain old "Indiana HS". Can you imagine! Well, somehow, someway, I've ended up lviing in the nationa's captial. My earnings last year were 700,00 plus! My house is worth well over 1million. My kis went to Europe this year....can someone please tell me...where did I go so wrong with a Purdue degree??????

You're what in your 30s, 40s, 50s? This is a new day! I got that both IU and Purdue are local feeder schools straight from non-diverse high schools. The best to any STA grad in trying to fit into these settings. As a parent, I would be concerned whether or not IU high school grads have comparable academic stats (gpa & scores) in comparison to my son's. As a pp stated they're attending for a specific programs.
